Basing A Catoblepas

Basing A Catoblepas

Mrs MLG painted the Catoblepas by Reaper Miniatures with a blue colour scheme as requested by Little Miss MLG. She took the opportunity to due a little basing and use the Gamers Grass laser cut plants for the first time.
Starting with a black base that had a lip enabling the miniatures own base to sit inside Mrs MLG covered the whole base with PVA and dipped it into Kroutcover Kodama Woods to act as, …well, a base layer 😂
Then Mrs MLG took some very bright green lichen from the basing cupboard and dunked it in watered down paint to dull down the very bright green (you could always use darker lichen but that's what we had), hanging the lichen from the Catoblepas mouth and around on the base.
Then came the Gamers Grass Dumb Cane laser printed plants, having never used them before Mrs MLG was a little apprehensive but they are a lot stronger than they look, and easy to manipulate and curl using tweezers , the only slight negative is the edges are white but it is hard to see this and you could paint the edges ,as Mrs MLG did, with a darker colour so its not so stark. Mrs MLG glued the plants into place on the base using tweezers to position them. As a last touch watered down black and brown paint was applied around the basing blend everything in.

Of course you can buy the miniature and basing materials at Your friendly local gaming shop Mighty Lancer Games
