Black Powder O'er The Hills And Far Away British Peninsular Veterans
Black Powder O'er The Hills And Far Away British Peninsular Veterans
The 3rd Battalion of Detachments, struck from all official records, is a proud example of Brigadier General Alan Campbell's vision: “I collected several destitute detachments belonging to Sir J. Moore’s army, who were scattered and lacking in necessities. What’s more, some of them committed acts that blackened the reputation of British soldiers.” At the Douro campaign and the capture of Oporto in 1809, the 3rd Battalion clashed with the feared French regiment, les Bouchers (the Butchers). The battle at Grijo was also marked by a wild dogfight between the 3rd's bull terrier mascot, Duchess, and the French poodle, Fifi - both leaving indelible scars.
These exceptional miniatures are oozing character and cast in finest Warlord Resin are a must for any self-respecting (and those not quite so self-respecting) Napoleonic British wargamer.
