Guastatori Destruction Group - Bolt Action

At the beginning of Italy's involvement in the war, their army lacked specialized assault engineering units capable of conquering enemy fortifications. However, witnessing the success of German pioneer units during the blitzkrieg, the Italians recognized the necessity for such units and formed the Guastatori del Genio in late 1940. By 1941, these trained assault engineers were fighting in North Africa and by mid-1942, they had also been deployed to the Eastern Front. During the Sicilian campaign, the 11th Guastatori Battalion was assigned to the 'Livorno' Division and fought alongside them throughout the entire campaign.
