This HK Models assembly model accurately depicts a 1/48 scale B-17H Flying Fortress, a key four-engine heavy bomber used by the U.S.A during World War 2. Alongside the B-24 Liberator and the B-29 Superfortress, the B-17 played a crucial role in all theatres of the war. Interestingly, the prototype Model 299 crashed in October 1935 due to pilot error and almost never became a part of history. However, the design proved to be highly promising during testing and additional prototypes were ordered, despite Boeing losing the original contract with the United States Army Air Corps.
