ICM Festive Dinner on the Front Line | 1:35 Scale Model Kit
ICM Festive Dinner on the Front Line | 1:35 Scale Model Kit
The ICM Festive Dinner on the Front Line model kit recreates a detailed World War II field kitchen scene featuring a U.S. Army G7117 kitchen truck, cooks, infantrymen and kitchen equipment. This highly detailed 1:35 scale plastic model kit captures a unique moment of daily military life on the front line where hot meals played an important role in maintaining morale and combat readiness.
During the Second World War the U.S. Army used M 1937 field ovens powered by liquid fuel to prepare meals for soldiers in the field. These ovens allowed cooks to fry, roast, stew and even bake pies. In many cases the ovens were installed directly in the cargo beds of army trucks converted into mobile field kitchens known as kitchen trucks. These vehicles were modified with extended frame arches supporting canvas covers so that cooks could stand upright while preparing food.
In these mobile kitchens wooden bench seats normally used inside transport trucks were mounted externally to hold cooking equipment such as pots, trays and utensils. Field kitchen teams worked to provide hot meals at least twice a day for frontline troops. While most meals were simple and high in calories, occasions sometimes allowed for more memorable dishes such as roasted turkey, making these moments particularly important for morale.
This detailed model kit includes the G7117 kitchen truck along with a group of figures depicting four U.S. Army cooks, three infantrymen and a driver. The figures are sculpted with accurate uniforms and period clothing, allowing hobbyists to create a realistic World War II scene. The M 1937 stoves can be assembled with the doors open or closed and the kit includes a wide range of accessories including kitchen utensils, knives, cooking pots, frying pans, canisters and thermoses.
With a total of 645 parts across the vehicle, figures and accessories, this kit offers an engaging project for scale model builders and is ideal for creating a detailed historical diorama depicting everyday life for American soldiers during World War II.
