M46 Patton Heavy Tank - Bolt Action
M46 Patton Heavy Tank - Bolt Action
During the Korean War, the 6th Tank Battalion utilized the M46 Patton tanks, which were considered equivalent to the M26 Pershing. With its similar 90mm gun and enhanced capabilities, the M46 proved to be a formidable opponent against North Korean T-34 tanks. Its deployment allowed the Pershings to be withdrawn and it played a crucial role in the defence of the Pusan perimeter in 1950. The M46 also aided the US Marine amphibious landings at Inchon. Although it was eventually replaced by the M47, the M46 Patton remains a significant addition to any US force in the Korean War, thanks to its powerful gyro-stabilized main weapon and experienced tank crew.
